John Nesset Artifacts: A Question of CertaintyJohn Nesset's exhibit, Artifacts: A Question of Certainty, was on display in the Wigley–Fleming Gallery Sept. 12–Oct. 13. The show included three categories of familiar objects: photographs, written pieces ("thought sculptures") and woodcraft. According to the artist: “Much as a cross-section from an archaeological site identifies its ancient inhabitants, the separate objects combine in the manner of fragments of a collage or facets of a cubist painting into a single installation investigating the collective human spirit — our directions, hopes, fears, delusions, insights, responses, resourcefulness, limitations, boundaries, contexts — around the central questions of Risk and Certainty.” Nesset is a 1962 graduate of Luther College. He lives in Minneapolis. ![]() installation view ![]() installation view ![]() installation view Updated 12/09/2002 |
